Political Weather Report

#spokenword #jazz #political Mike- I had this idea (kind of shamelessly ripped off from Tom Waits' 'emotional weather report' to do a 'political weather report'. I wa talking to @carleybaer in the slackchat and she said she'd love to come up with a backing- and sure enough, she sent me a fantastic smoky jazz track that's the perfect backup. So perfect, in fact, that after reading the 'weather report' I decided a little jazzy scat-singing was in order... hope it don't hurt ya ears too much---and hope ya all dig!
Lyrics
Political Weather Report
And now, turning to the weather, there’s a cold front moving through the rule of law and democracy. High winds are blowing in an authoritarian direction.
Clouds of xenophobia & sporadic hail of hard-line nationalism are reported in some outlying districts. Winds of ignorance are picking up. Those winds may form a bomb-cyclone of stupidity, threatening parts of the central plains.
A low-pressure system of apathy & despair hovers over coastal cities.
Tropical Storm Donald has been upgraded to a Category 3 Hurricane.
There’s a thick cloud cover today blotting out nuance, truth and critical thinking. A Steady precipitation of fear and grievance has saturated the air and is expected to continue until the next election.
A follow-up to last week’s advisory: a large amount of ICE remains over Minneapolis — some say the ice has slightly melted, But use caution, it may be as potentially lethal as before. And that ice might spread to other cities as well.
The long term outlook?
High and low pressure voting rights remain unpredictable future storms on the horizon, but there may be some blue skies at some point We just don’t know when. Stay tuned for further updates!

I dig it! I wish this were on my screen when I turn on the news. You touch on extremely relevant topics, really enjoyed the drums and scatting at the end too, such a great collab!
