Outgrow the Basement
by @jacobwakeup
Liner Notes
A little ode to basement shows and the scene they build and the bands they help get off the ground (underground? [dad joke]).
** Let the record show that I am too old for basement shows. Let the kids have their space.
Lyrics
We're never gonna outgrow the basement. When there's nowhere else to play. We're never ever gonna make it. Or see another day.
Let's play shows until we're broke. Let's get home at 3 am. Then get up for stupid jobs. And do it again.
We're never gonna outgrow the basement We can't forget our roots. We remember everyone who helps us. There are no substitutes.
Let's get paid in PBR. Stay out late with all our friends. Let's tell stories until morning. Then do it again.
We're never gonna outgrow the basement. it always feels like home. We're never ever gonna make it. And get a chance to roam.
Let's use up our PTO. Then piss off our new boyfriends. Lets get hammered on a Tuesday. And do it again.
Never outgrow the basement. Never outgrow the basement. Never ever outgrow the basement. Never ever outgrow the basement. Show.

This song makes me get nostalgic lol Takes me back to playing shows in the basement of Who’s Emma, which was a punk rock record store in Toronto. Small loud sweaty room, and punk af! I remember seeing Falling Sickness and Assorted Jellybeans there. Man, good times.
This brings me back to 1996 in the basement college dorm!
