Liner Notes

It's time for a collab with the mightly pen of @stephenwordsmith! These lyrics have extra meaning for me, as our neighbourhood has recently developed a busker with an accordian who can neither play the accordian nor sing. What fun! I would like to assure listeners that no pianos or pianists were harmed during the mid-section of this song. #metal #deathmetal #piano

Lyrics

To everything, a place and time A time for reason, space for rhyme A time to roll the working sleeve A time to rest, perchance to breathe To eat your fill, to drink your health To hoard your gold or squander wealth To wander far and ponder deep To lay your weary soul to sleep

A time to have a little tryst With ivory beneath your wrist But your hot date with ebony Is making you an enemy You see, my weary ears can't copus With your midnight magnum opus Thus begins the first prelude Of neighbours getting slightly rude

Now I'm the sort who skews forgiving Live and let them go on living Turn the jowl in manner meek To those who offer too much cheek But as I rise up from my pillow Grab my cricket bat of willow I know God's amenable To all souls being redeemable

Thus by the light of midnight lamp We see descend upon your camp A half-aslumber vigilante Marching at a pace andante Deep in ethical declension Acting with impure intention Bad chords struck within the heart Here's what will happen - now, let's start

For though it may be heinous crime I'll beat you up in 4/4 time Then after one brief interval I'll rip off all your fingernals I'll take your hand, you dirty coward Slice it off like Katherine Howard Smile and mumble 'fancy that' And knock you down till you B flat

At last, with orchestrated keenness Punch you squarely in the pianist Tear the wires and bind your arms No more to torture us with Brahms The bedroom lights along the street Wink out to herald your defeat Then with this interlude of violence Night returns to blessed silence

To everything, a place and time A time for reason, space for rhyme A time to roll the working sleeve A time to rest, perchance to breathe To eat your fill, to drink your health To hoard your gold or squander wealth To wander far and ponder deep And now, to finally get some sleep

Death metal piano? Count me in for a listen! What a treat to hear the delivery of the lines "But as I rise up from my pillow, Grab my cricket bat of willow". Always good to have a trusty bat by your side, as Spinal Tap's manager advised.
