Wiggle Wiggle Zig Zag (The Earthquake Song)

#children #education It's been hard to find any time to think and reflect, let alone write and record a song. I'm an early childhood teacher (ages 3-4) and, living in Japan, my students have become really interested in earthquakes. I wrote this song hoping we can sing and perform it as part of our project.
The lyrics and chords were intentionally kept simple (and I'm not a great guitarist), but I wonder if it's too unoriginal? I will play around with the melody a bit more. Disclaimer I recorded this in my kitchen with the door shut so my kids wouldn't bother me-- didn't work! Hah! The lyric is meant to be "Drop," not "Stop." This take had the least amount of mistakes/interruptions, so I kept it.

Sometimes the ground wiggle wiggles around The Earth begins to move Things in my house wobble and fall down but I know what to do

The melody’s great! An instructional song, which works as a pop song too. With some strong rhythmic hooks as well! And this is also encouraging, as I haven’t yet dared to try recording anything with the kids around - maybe the door thing would work for a short song 😅

This is great! Your tags got me checking this out and were indeed spot on. I haven’t come across much children’s music on here, so I’d say this is an under represented genre. I had a go at one, but it got weird and turned into not a children’s song 😆
😆That’s funny! It’s deceptively hard to write a children’s song. I’ve tried many times. This one came easier because it’s the topic we’re learning about in school. Thanks for your encouragement! Looking forward to checking out your tunes too.

Really nice voice and song! I think the kids will love it! It has a really nice melody. I especially like the chorus melody with your voice and guitar playing. Nice job!

This is adorable, informative, catchy. I don't think it's unoriginal at all but most importantly serves the subject super well. I love it. And missss youuuu! I hope all is well in Japan.
