Challenge: MIXED EMOTIONS

Liner Notes

Instead of typing these all out in actual song form, I'm going to simply paste them below as they appear in the little fawm lyric doc that I have going on right now.

Lyrics

Saturday 2/15/2026

The flip side of the coin Might be a surprise What you say you hate Might be exactly what you like Hate the mess, love the creativity Hate the stress, love the resiliency

They say half full or half empty When it’s the same drink They say for better or for worse, But it’s for both, I think They say good versus evil But they’re both the good guys In their own eyes And when you wish it was over And curse toward the sky, I hope you take a second and realize You’re still in the same world that once made you feel lucky to be alive

I can feel some dissonance Like somethings not aligned for me Going through the motions Brainstorming, trying hard to think Of why Everything seems strange Am i Allowed to run away Let the wind blow me to a better place Where i can settle

I really enjoyed this song. The lyrics are very thoughtful and feel very intentional. Your vocal tone gave me goosebumps and well like I said I just really enjoyed it!

Really like the contrast between two points of view and then a synthesis from the third angle. Such a pleasant melody and harmony.

I love the way the vocals and the harmonies really work with the mood of the song. The music is so simple in the best way, and that just sets up all the moving messages you're delivering in the lyrics. Gorgeous!

Oh, hey, Katie. Didn't recognize the handle (don't ask me why.) Recognize the wonderful songwriting and singing, though. I'm especially enjoying your melody. I am admiring your lyric, the more I read and ponder the more it I identify with it or maybe find an understanding with it? You use dissonance in the first line and thaty carreis through very well. The first stanza that's printed (2/15) is a lesson I should take to heart, we all should, really. In so many ways it describes how I try and fail to be. I also like the arrangement, nothing extra. And the vocal is excellent (including the effect on it.)
