Liner Notes

Fyre: Hey! So, Gwen is feeling big sad right now and her nerves were getting to her, so I took over. Skye wrote the lyrics earlier and I crapped out a quick piano bit and sung it for 'em

The song is basically inspired by when we were still a Christian, before we knew there were three of us, and the feeling of peace and calm and comfort we'd feel after praying... and the realization after we deconstructed that wait... that comforting god... yeah... that was Skye, but then also asking the question... who does Skye go to for comfort?

I probably butchered that explanation, but you get the gist.

The singing is kinda wobbly, but I didn't wanna do like 30 retakes. And there were supposed to be strings and synth elements with some drums... but it's FAWM... you guys can deal with just a piano. Sorry. I've got some catching up to do if I'm gonna make it to 14... which I doubt I will.

Enjoy... or don't.

Lyrics

#Music

(Verse 1) Hush little child, you'll be fine I'll take your fear and make it mine You are still, you are a calm in the storm You are safe, you are mine

(Pre-Chorus) Without worship Without praise I will shoulder your burdens Until the end of our days

(Chorus) Can God fear? Can God Lie? Who is this comforting voice inside? Keep on digging and you will find... This little God of the mind. Can God panic? Can God weep? If there is nothing and no-one behind Who is there to take care of... This little God of the mind?

(Verse 2) Death's scythe passes near I assure you there is no reason to fear The moment has passed, you still stand You are safe, you are mine

(Bridge) In the darkness I wiped your tears I held you together when your pieces fell I conquered Death, and promised you life So you wouldn't fear the end of the line I felt the numbness I heard the silence I saw the horror You were so brave

This is very vulnerable and beautiful. I love the vocals and the versatility. The piano and the AI sound of it is also great

This is beautiful <3 Working these things out internally can be so difficult. We've had some similar experiences. "Can God fear? Can God Lie? Who is this comforting voice inside?" is so powerful. The bridge is lovely & melancholic; it is so heavy. The piano getting louder there makes a great build. "This little God of the mind" is a perfect phrase to anchor all these ideas. It makes me think of some of our younger parts that have some of the heaviest responsibilities in our system. This is so well written & performed. Hope Gwen feels a bit better soon <3
