Turn off the Music

Skirmish: Getaway music (@200ghosts)Liner Notes
#skirmish #gospel Nancy: We wrote this one together in an hour on zoom. When @jazzanarchy read me the prompt I heard it as the imperative "Get Away Music." Feels like a possible anthem for FAWM overwhelm, and bad advice to ignore....
Lyrics
No more music The world has got enough No more music There’s too much of this stuff No more music Keep your music to yourself No more music, music just won’t sell
Don’t write another measure Don’t play another note If you’ve got a song to sing Just keep it in your throat
Your time has come and gone And you’re not needed here The market’s got no space for you I hope I’ve made that clear
No more music The world has got enough No more music There’s too much of this stuff No more music Just keep it to yourself No more music, music just won’t sell
Take your favorite saxophone Throw it in the fire You still wanna harmonize Join a gospel choir
Take your mother’s clarinet Throw it in the fire You still wanna harmonize Join her gospel choir
Turn off the music I’ve had enough Turn off the music All that stuff
Turn off the music I’ve had enough All that music All that stuff

Fine take on the skirmish, love the groove, vocals, rhythm. Love the irony of turning off the music as a response to get away! Great job!
Interesting concept. A song about no more songs being written and performed during a song writing challenge. I have "Mixed Emotions" about that. Nicely done!
I love this as is, but since I loooove writing music my mind wants the message flipped (easily done) to "don't turn off the music, there's NEVER enough". I know that is not to the prompt and, I get, like someone else has said, there would be a great place for it in a musical, but flip it and it would make me happy, too... Great job!!
Love it, @nancycunning and @jazzanarchy! I'm always late to the skirmish, then too late to post. The one for this prompt still only exists in my head. (So far, I've posted zero songs this month, but at least I've only thrown away 3 songs in frustration.)
I can hear this as one of the early songs in a musical.
The positivity, discipline, and ability to deal with the nuances of today's so called music industry, requires so much persistence, eh? Nice collab!
I love that getaway music morphed to get away music and this was the result! Love the spoken word bit. Nice melodic choice on “no more music”, it’s running through my head now.
this should be designated the anthem of every music publishing company. it would be funny if it wasnt so true. but wait..it is funny!!! gotta have a sense of humor about these things.
