Skin Shed
by @mkoby
Liner Notes
First non-"Song a Week" FAWM song (the other 2 were from an ongoing personal attempt to write a song a week again).
This one is about therapy.
Lyrics
Peel it all back until you find the ugly pieces I’ve hidden away I’m sure there’s something wrong with me I don’t understand what it is that seems to be holding me back Maybe it’s not something I can change
It’s over, I’m out, I’m shedding my skin Before you can count down to the moment Passing us by, goodbye now, maybe I’ll see you later After my skin sheds, after my skin sheds
I can’t help but wonder if this is the rest of my life Digging deeper until every part dangerously undone Breathing in, breathing out, realizing and letting go Until what’s left over is just me, only me
It’s over, I’m out, I’m shedding my skin Before you can count down to the moment Passing us by, goodbye now, maybe I’ll see you later After my skin sheds, after my skin sheds
It’s over, I’m out, I’m shedding my skin Before you can count down to the moment Passing us by, goodbye now, maybe I’ll see you later After my skin sheds, after my skin sheds
great job forging ahead. I love the "song a week" idea. @carleybaer hosts a "bad song club." and sends a weekly prompt if you share an email address. I really like the idea of "shedding skin" in your lyric and how you build on it through the chorus and verses. Nice Job!
