Mixed Emotions
Challenge: MIXED EMOTIONSLiner Notes
I wasn't sure I was going to write today, but I picked up my guitar to practice something for songwriting class tonight and then started noodling around while looking at the prompt for the weekly challenge, and here we are. This has been on my mind a lot this week in particular. Guitar is tuned DADAAD.

Lyrics
The world is on fire but I am fine The dissonance might be what tears apart my mind It feels weird and it's not fair It's not that I am unaware
But I am choosing joy I won't let this destroy my happiness And I'll still let my heart break I won't ignore the ache inside my chest
The world is on fire but I'm okay This contradiction is what I will hold today It's something I must learn to bear 'Cause I am always gonna care
But I am choosing joy I won't let this destroy my happiness And I'll still let my heart break I won't ignore the ache inside my chest
But I am choosing joy I won't let this destroy my happiness And I'll still let my heart break I won't ignore the ache inside my chest

Thank you! It’s a bit outside my stylistic comfort zone but it’s felt appropriate for the times.
that first line (in both verses) is perfect for the moment. (Also, I love how you've taken the different prompts this month, essentially interrogating them.) The chorus is beautiful and meaningful.
Such a great message! I'm loving the DADGAD tuning. I like how this isn't toxicly positive, like in the lines about still letting your heart break and not ignoring pain. There's something really powerful in acknowledging how bad things are, acknowledging how they make us feel, and then choosing joy anyway
I'm really enjoying your folk punk. The energetic strumming is a great texture for your vocals to alternately punctuate and float over. This is gonna be my #exvangelicalhymn for this week.
