Skirmish: Exotic Animal (@atornberg) Challenge: SAWTOOTH MELODYLiner Notes
My first skirmish of the month! I was instantly inspired by the prompt. My family has quite a collection of pets, and my son’s axolotl is always a hit at my homeschool Animal Encounters class.
I also decided to write to the Sawtooth Melody challenge (now that I know what that means) as well as #capochallenge and #fmajaminchallenge (capo 2, playing the G shape for F, and for Am I’m playing a B7 shape because I can’t do bar chords yet). I also #madeupwords. Fun song! I can’t wait to share it with my kids!
The lyrics are an acrostic poem and then the yodel-y chorus just materialized. I’m excited to add this poem to my growing collection of children’s animal acrostic poems.
I just realized that I misspelled it in the acrostic, LOL. Definitely due for some editing.

Axolotl
A xolotl is fun to say and eX tra fun to keep. He L ikes to wave his tiny arms when I come O ver to see him. T ranslucent skin and fancy frills - he’s a swimming superstar! Our L ittle axolotl has a lotl of my heart.

Aawww, I have Axolotls too. Well, my daughter wanted them and then outgrew that phase, so I'm stuck with them. But I feel that song, it's just so tender, warm and beautiful.
That scares me a little. My son is not allowed to outgrow any of his needy creatures! Thank you so much for your kind words!

This is great. A lot of fun and it covers a lot of challenges too. I am indeed very fond of Axolotls they are incredibly cute. And having a lotl heart is fab. Thanks for sharing.
