The moon landings were faked

Skirmish: Devil’s Advocate (@deleted)Liner Notes
Hmmmm, hard, so hard to write this
Lyrics
There is no way man has gone to the moon I don’t know why you believe it Everyone knows the landings were faked Hollywood is behind it as always
Kubric was tasked with the make believe We’re only ffinding out now It’s in his diaries, or so I’ve been told I am certainly in no doubt
If we’d really gone there, there would be proof But I’ve looked through the telescopes And there’s nothing to see We’ve been taken for fools, everyone
The powers that be want us to believe They’ve gone to great lengths as well And NASA was formed, solely to deceive They’ve taken us under their spell There is no way man has gone to the moon Everyone knows the landings were faked

The classic conspiracy theory in song! One thing does puzzle me. Why have we never been back?
Such a lovely Skirmish song! And yes, the best, most powerful way to poke holes in a conspiracy theory is to simply present it as fact. I bet some people (not too many FAWMers, I don't imagine) would hear this song and think you are supporting their "moon landing was a fake" POV. No vaccines for their kiddos!
Gordon, this is freakin' brilliant! I am astounded that this is a skirmish. The music sweet uplifting music made me laugh. Vocals spot on!. I love everything about this song. I guess the devil made you do it :-)
I LOVE that you went here and I'm jealous I didnt think of it myself! Brilliant Gordon 😃
I know you're joking (there are plenty of photos of the landing sites, for a start), but this still makes me wince. The trope was kicking around almost immediately and is referenced in Diamonds Are Forever (1971) when Bond stumbles on to what appears to be a Moon landing set. The punchline to the Kubrick gag was, of course, that because it was Stanley in charge of production, he insisted on filming on location on the actual Moon...
Hi Chris, yes it was a very hard write, but hey, something to try. I've seen the Mythbusters episode where they debunk all of the crazy conspiracy stuff, but Devil's advocate, innit?
I have a lot to say about this one that’s not so inflammatory haha — the moon landings are such a monumental moment in human history, but I absolutely love how people distrust their governments so darn much that they just won’t budge on things like this even when presented with facts and evidence — it’s like telling someone Santa is not real but they still believe! In that way, I honestly don’t care if they flounder there if their heart is in the right place most of the time.
I met a lot of folks who believe that Hellen Keller was neither deaf nor blind, too. That one might be “more plausable” 🫢
