fish village

Liner Notes
#spokenword I played and recorded the chord progression a week or two ago. Yesterday I listened and felt zero inspiration for lyrics. So I just cranked up the reverb, played it and started talking. Totally off the cuff, spontaneous, one take, goodbye. The trick is to keep an eye on the audio in the DAW so you know when to finish. I had never thought about fish, spice and fermentation before this.
Lyrics
In the beginning of the time, we had so many offerings to those who were in charge. We brought them fish. We brought them spices. We brought them specially fermented alcohol that only we could make. And things were good. Things were very good.
But then the world changed a little bit. There weren't as many fish to bring to those in charge.Fewer spices. The keepers of the fermentation process one day were no longer there.
Where did they go?
Yeah, things changed all right, things changed. So now without the fish, without the spices, without the special drink, we were left to our own devices. We had less defense of the hometown. We had less interesting conversations at night time. We started walking more. In some ways, that was good. It offset the softness of the good times, if you know what I mean.
One day, I walked so far I came to another village. I had never seen this village before. I had never seen the people there before. They were surprisingly kind and welcoming to me. One of them gave me fish. One of them gave me spice. One of them gave me a drink of something oddly familiar and fermented. It was quite enjoyable. I never left that village.
