Dad

#singersongwriter #guitar #banjolin It will be 19 years this week that my dad passed. I always think of him a lot around now... and in October on his birthday. Dad had a tough life... from fleeing Oklahoma with his family during the Dustbowl, then fighting in WWII and Korea, and then working a job as an electrician as a civilian working for the Coast Guard. He would leave the house on Monday morning and arrive back at home on Friday evening. He was a hard working... sometimes a hard man. He led a clean life and was much admired. This song is for dad.
Lyrics
Dad
A pretty hard life, Many challenges and strife... Built character extra strong. Through the dust bowl and two wars Helped out with funds and chores... Whatever it took to get along.
CHORUS: Took it all in stride, Worn with quiet pride, There just weren’t no other way. To me, you were my dad, The best one I could have... And I miss you each and every day.
Worked full time on the road, I know that that got old… Still provided all that we did need. The weekends were no rest, Worked hard, you did your best. With seven hungry mouths to feed.
CHORUS: Took it all in stride, Worn with quiet pride, There just weren’t no other way. To me, you were my dad, The best one I could have... And I miss you each and every day. To me, you were my dad, The best one I could have... And I miss you each and every day.

You've got some legit old timey vibes my man! Good job.
I had a Dad like that, too, and I love the way you've presented this tribute to yours. Those were different times, and I wonder what they'd think of the world today.
