Challenged myself to do a calisthenics workout after the skirmish started, and write whatever I could in the remaining 10 minutes. I tried to channel CSN and "Just A Song Before I Go” in the sense of writing it in the time it would take to get from my house to PDX.

Lyrics

I packed a bag, I bought a ticket Ain’t gone away in a while Look out the window, on the way to the airport The driver don’t notice my smile

I’m going away To where they do everything A little bit differently Stay, they’ll say Maybe I will someday

Might go to Paris, might go to Hamsterdam Might see Canada or Japan Or maybe New Zealand, or possibly Zanzibar Anywhere just because I can

One of my friends once on a Friday night, flush with the new cash of having their first job after University went to the airport with the intention of flying on whichever was the next flight out. Unfortunately they did this late in the evening and there were no more flights until morning. I sure relate to the sentiment. You got a great recording on the ukulele. It sounds incredibly Rich.

Such a great concept and your voice is so good here! I love the ukulele. I’ve always wanted to learn it but never have. Again, wonderful vocals!

I love the wistful quiet of this song. Great chords especially.

A beautiful chord progression, and I love the playfulness of your list of possible destinations. The chorus is lovely.

Oh I LOVE these chords. This is so simple and beautiful and whimsical and completely captures that feeling of travel.

And obviously you should come to New Zealand. Thanks for taking part in my skirmish!

A simple but very interesting chord progression. And your voice captures the moment so beautifully. Good old Hamsterdam.

What were the calisthenics? Funky chords? I really really like the vibe here, the slow, the calm, the visuals of the destinations. I think I will cover this song to sing to my walls, I hope you don't mind. It's a really sweet song. Well done!

@sbs

Beautiful and so relatable. I’m ready to go - lol! The vocals wistfully convey the message. And this is the perfect song for a ukelele.

Wistfully counted, I feel very comforted by this sweet wee tune. It feels like a song that Steve Martin might sing and strum in a rowboat.
