Undercover Heart
Skirmish: Undercover Heart/ Underco... (@jem)Liner Notes
I have felt blocked creatively for a little while, so I firstly need to thank @jem for sharing this inspiring prompt!
I started with doing some chords in G Major via my Maschine. Then I added some extra layers. I could hear it coming together, and I imagined what I could add "analog."... I wanted to leave a lot of space here for a vocal and harmonica...
By the time the instrumental track was done, I had no time to waste for lyrics and vocals... I only had a few minutes left!
So I grabbed my Seydel Low G Harmonica, I looked at the prompt text... and after a couple false starts I recorded this take of impromptu lyrics and harmonica lines... lightly mixed and uploaded. I think it could be improved, but this is raw "me" so maybe I should leave it. :)
Thanks for the listen!
Lyrics
Is this how it is? Is this what we’ll be? Some kind of secret? Something the world cannot see?
I never want it to be Undercover
Open the door Open, open
Cause I don’t want to be Undercover
Love is worth it Love is worth Showing Showing
I don’t want to be Undercover
I don’t want to be Undercover

Great job of responding to the skirmish with a full band sound! I can definitely relqae to your take on the topic, too ... and love the percussion and harmonica. I play both, and always appreciate hearing more of both in FAWM demos. Great skirmish entry!
This deserves a fuller treatment. I love the idea of him pleading that he wants their love out in the open, but she (or he)'s not keen. We don't know why and that adds to the mystery.
I love it when the music really takes off around the 2 minute mark. That cello-like sound is great.
This is a really powerful song . I like how you let the words breathe by integrating the melodic pauses. The harmonica really grounds it. Solid.
What a great impromptu take on this! I love the harp and percussion and well, i can't help but hear the knocking drum as a heartbeat as well as a knock on the door. The slow down on "Love is worth... showing" with the music line swelling after is lovely and the whole of it So creative. thanks for taking it on!
The space is incredibly effective. I really like the false fade/end and then the build back up with the cello
