Cover of the Heart
Skirmish: Undercover Heart/ Underco... (@jem)Liner Notes
Lyrics
So many words So many things to hide From the cover of the heart To the pages inside Grab them with the pink highlighter But no one ever sees the writer Undercover in broad daylight
Magazines They’re a dying breed I’ll take my tea At a thousand times the speed What’s the truth about the lover Always more to discover Undercover in broad daylight
As a ghost writer I’ve got the voice But someday if I have my choice I’ll be on the cover of the heart
Words have secret accounts That nobody knows Cut through their disguises See inside their clothes Hide them in a plain brown wrapper Find them the morning after Undercover in broad daylight
As a ghost writer I’ve got the voice But someday if I have my choice I’ll be on the cover of the heart

What a cool unexpected take on the prompt -- so well realized and performed, too! Lots of fantastic lines in here -- I think my favorite couplet is "Hide them in a plain brown wrapper/Find them the morning after" but it's all great. A keeper for sure! Well done.
"Grab them with the pink highlighter But no one ever sees the writer Undercover in broad daylight" ......Fabulous!
Neat idea to reveal the POV of a ghost writer. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Ghost writer wants to be on the cover of the heart? I'm thinking of Cyrano de Bergerac--were you?
This is such an inventive take on the undercover heart concept! I just Love "A Ghost writer I've got the Voice, but someday if i have my choice" and "Words have secret accounts That nobody knows, Cut through their disguises See inside their clothes" Is just brilliant. The steady cool delivery is also perfect.
Wow - what a cool, original response to the prompt. That's what I love about this FAWM community ... it's so CREATIVELY diverse ...never mind the other categories of race, nationality, politics, religion ... none of them matter here. There are just so many different ways people respond to an idea, and that's just plain fun and uplifting and heart-warming! This is a fun, original, and uplifting song. Great Skirmish!
