Liner Notes

Music as functional entity is something I find really interesting and important.

As part of ritual and spiritual practice, it invokes the connection to the supernatural world, and gets people into a present state of vulnerability and emotional connection. They're open to new ideas and willing to react more slowly with one another. And it also creates a call to action, in any context, to remind us that we are part of communities, that we are not alone in this world, and that we all have a responsibility to do our part to make everything better.

Lyrics

Sing Together

Before all history got shrunk to the size of written words, People sang together and all felt the same soul stirring Sense that they were not alone One Breath with many voices to protect and keep their home.

The rainfall isn’t only god’s responsibility. It takes everyone to keep the land fertile and free So sing along and make a vow to always lend a hand And sing together so we all can understand

Sing together bring the rain Sing together, raise the sun, Sing together, build the world, Sing together, sing as one

Sing together bring the rain Sing together, raise the sun, Sing together, build the world, Sing together, sing as one

People all distracted now, where do their voices go? Too afraid to be together, don’t have time to make things grow, Or take things slow One self with many walls up to protect and keep their own

Forget about the rain and sun and live to stay inside, Insulated with permission to go run and hide Doesn’t have to be this way, we all were meant for more, Sing together, join us as we always have before

Sing together bring the rain Sing together, raise the sun, Sing together, build the world, Sing together, sing as one Sing together bring the rain Sing together, raise the sun, Sing together, build the world, Sing together, sing as one

I would like to sing with you I would like to sing with you I would like to sing with you I would like to sing with you

Fabulous folk song! I love how you capture the important role of music in building and connecting community in so many ways! Singing along with you on this great song - love the music and your delivery!

This is a really great song! I love the sentiment and the invitation/prompt to sing together! And this song really did get me singing out loud. It invites harmony! Cool chorus, and that final send off “I would like to sing with you” is a beautiful invitation and nice place to land. And My oh My your guitar playing is so full and sets such a good stage for the message.

What a wonderful sentiment! If only FAWMers could all get together and sing.

Awe this is beautiful. I love the motion of the guitar, it's like a rushing stream. It's lovely the urging to sing. Thank you for this song :)

Music really is something that’s both deeply human and almost something more. Not only is it inspirational spiritually, it draws us together communally, it physically heals us, and it may even give clues about the grand cosmic and microscopic unifying theory of the universe (string theory). Thanks for this song, and the thought provoking message behind it about music itself!

Singing is so very powerful and important. I miss being part of choirs.

Nice song. The chorus is instantly learnable. And I think this is the point. 😀

Sing together, yes!!! Feel free to jam on it, it's only 2 chords, lol! (Bb and Ab)

I love when songs and prayers are the same thing, that we would all feel "the same soul stirring." The opening instrumental figure had me from the beginning. I imagine the chorus being sung by a chorus of voices, but in a large call and response, huge stereo spread. Maybe even how to simplify the verses into a campfire singalong. This is lovely and captures--no, shares--such a needed feeling.

Oh yeah, there will definitely be larger scale vocalizing happening in the future with this song. I'd love to do it as like a Kirtan with a bunch of peeps sitting in a circle and just connecting it all up
