Hiding Underground

Album Achieved!
I stumbled upon some old notebooks a couple days before fawm. So I set them aside with the goal of pulling them out one night to do a song with this month.
Tonight was that night and I found a couple of pages from 2007 that were quite vague but seemed to kind of fit together thematically. I added a few words, cut a few out and added some guitar and we have ourselves this song. It's short, it seems very melancholy, but it also feels very post-apocalyptic kind of fallout sort of feel.
Lyrics
The mercury pushes higher than it should Disregarding the dust collecting here A rotting burning smell rises As Hoppers cook on the sun beaten grill
The ground shifts under my feet You said the foundation was sound I don't like slipping when I'm holding so much Let me set a few things down Let me put this down
There's no clear line on the horizon The dirt roads contrast the dust I have the elixir To this apocalypse
But for now you can't find me I'm hiding underground Hiding Underground Hiding Underground Hiding Underground

The somber kazoo and strumming help bring a feeling of being destitute, no matter what the story could be. I like how you decided to compose around the old lyrics. Great song!
After the apocalypse when we're all hiding in our bunkers eated tinned whatever and dwarf bread, I'm going to make sure I have my kazoo. Wonderful lyrics set against the melancholy guitar and sad kazoo lines.
Wonderful track, can’t believe it’s been resurrected from all the way back in 07
Kazoo is an underestimated instrument. I really like this song. These lyrics are pure poetry! That strumming is perfectly dark. . This is great. my only suggestion is to tone down the volume of the kazoo. But It's tough to get it all "perfect" on a live recording...(and i'm no good at mixing so.) Forget I said anything. It still stands as a great tune!
I 100% agree. The phone is not the best at recording the old kazoo. Maybe I need to move it to a different spot.
Congratulations on the Album! There’s something compelling about the instability in the lyrics, shifting ground, no clear horizon, hiding underground. It feels disoriented in a deliberate way. The kazoo adds an unexpected layer that keeps it from feeling too heavy.
