Liner Notes

I saw this skirmish about half past the hour, but I love a word list (and this one felt particularly usable) so couldn't pass it up. Wrote the chorus first to get all the words in, and then the verses happened from there. I had a pretty strong sense of rhythm in my head as I was writing the lyrics, and the chorus melody came at almost the same time. (The words from the list are bolded in the lyrics below.)

Lyrics

The world might be ending We play on as we feel The ship going down around us There is no knowing What might happen next Except sticking around to find out

Hold still, try not to fall over the edge Will you carry some light in your pocket Until the sun returns Shooting stars break into a run as you watch Take a chance on a wish, you can't stop it Blow on the embers that burn

There isn't a reason For chaos and suffering Sometimes things just happen despite Our best efforts Or due to our failings The best we can do is just try

Hold still, try not to fall over the edge Will you carry some light in your pocket Until the sun returns Shooting stars break into a run as you watch Take a chance on a wish, you can't stop it Blow on the embers that burn

Hold still, try not to fall over the edge Will you carry some light in your pocket Until the sun returns Shooting stars break into a run as you watch Take a chance on a wish, you can't stop it Blow on the embers that burn

Great poetic lyric. I like the flow of the acoustic and smooth vocal. Feel like it could be the lost acoustic demo track from a 90s alternative band in the best way. πŸŽΆπŸ™Œ

The opening stanza frames this so wonderfully. That chorus (which apparently contains the required words) sounds so natural (I love the idea of carrying some light in your pocket) and I love the internal rhymes there. This is beautiful and meaningful. That chorus is going to stick with me for awhile.

well you crushed in one big hit smart move. This really reminded me of something but my memory has hit its age match. I think its the turn around from an REM number ( losing my religion?) only a bit of it! seriously i have loved your songs so far but this would be my Favourite.

So soft and somehow so encouraging despite giving the feeling of so much uncertainty. Very beautiful song.

Oh this is truly lovely to listen to and the lyrics have a great flow to them. Ear candy!

I'm in love with the second verse about there not being a reason for chaos, that feels so poignant right now. Great use of the word list!

What a cracking lyric, terrific imagery and I particularly like the idea "carry some light in your pocket until the sun returns". Well done! πŸ˜ƒ
