The Quad God

Liner Notes
#olympics I don't really follow the Olympics all that much, but heard about this US skater who was nicknamed the 'quad god' for his doing these quad (four revolutions, I guess) things on the ice.. Read a little bit about how he didn't get a gold at the end, which was too bad, he seemed destined for it- still, he's only 21, so I'm guessing he will be back, -- anyway, this kind of wrote itself
quick recording, acoustic guitar (taylor) and vocal played live..
Lyrics
Out on the ice, it’s a slippery slope There are some on whom we pin our hopes
In saloons and salons From Rangoon to Milan In Iraq and Iran We talked about the Quad God
As the world spins off its axis One indisputable fact is No amount of practice Can produce another Quad God
He was something special, and we knew it But in the end, he just said: “I blew it.”
He came in so confident And it went the way it went This time it just wasn’t meant For gold for the Quad God
he’ll be back before too late It’s talent, hard work and fate Cause no one else can skate Quite like the Quad God

Love all the reverb, it gives this such a nice live feel
This is a great lyric! And I like how balanced this is and how optimistic the ending is. Commentators were saying that even though that happened, he actually is still the best skater in the world. I really like the relaxed vibe of this song, feels less sad. I actually wrote another song besides that weird poetic one you saw, about half an hour after I watched that disaster, so this one actually is more directly about what happened: https://fawm.org/songs/324122
Thanks so much for linking me to yours! It feels like a conversation.
Your Taylor is sounding mighty fine. Also, I always find your lyrics so fascinatingly brilliant!
A very topical song! It certainly tells the story. Nice melody and accompaniment. Loved the line: “ As the world spins off its axis One indisputable fact is”
I love the rhymes throughout this whole song. So well done, especially the way you don't rhyme "Quad God" with anything after so many dexterous rhymes. It really sets off the title in a great way. Bravo!
