Lyrics
Someday I’ll stay all night Drift off by your side Someday I’ll make your house my home I’m so tired of sleeping alone If you’ll have me I’ll never leave I’ll stay, stay, stay I’ll stay, stay, stay
A whole world here upon the mattress An entire girl for me to miss There’s things to do, places to go All I can afford is one more kiss Responsibilities, what life demands I’ll sacrifice a brush of hands It’s not my fault it goes this way Forgive me, try to understand
Goodbye, goodnight Until tomorrow, until next time
Someday I’ll stay all night Drift off by your side Someday I’ll make your house my home I’m so tired of sleeping alone If you’ll have me I’ll never leave I’ll stay, stay, stay I’ll stay, stay, stay
A lonely freeway’s all I have Dense coat of mist, it fogs the glass Thirty minutes driving down Just to turn around and come back Lay beyond an unlocked door My bag is spilling on the floor Scattered so I can’t depart I am less as I want more
Goodbye, goodnight Until tomorrow, until next time
Someday I’ll stay all night Drift off by your side Someday I’ll make your house my home I’m so tired of sleeping alone If you’ll have me I’ll never leave I’ll stay, stay, stay I’ll stay, stay, stay
Waning stars, Sunset and moon I promise now, I’ll be there soon In the cold Slumber, forget What if I just never left What if I just never left What if I just never left
Someday I’ll stay all night Drift off by your side Someday I’ll make your house my home I’m so tired of sleeping alone If you’ll have me I’ll never leave I’ll stay, stay, stay I’ll stay, stay, stay Goodbye, goodnight Until tomorrow, until next time Goodbye, goodnight Until tomorrow, until next time
There’s so much longing in this lyric. “Someday I’ll stay all night” is a rich opening line and the repetition reinforces the yearning. The end is a little heartbreaking — wanting to stay but saying goodbye. Great write!
