The Road Down

Liner Notes

#guitar I'm much better at singing than guitar...

Lyrics

I won't live forever I'm sure you can agree Though now we are awake One day the last of us will fall asleep You can leave it till tomorrow But every path you follow drags you underneath

A winding road awaits me, a river to a lake I bend until I break, my choices have been made Every debt is paid, every road is paved But every step I take is down into the grave

Life is like a shadow A shadow in the trees One day you'll be here Next you're blown away upon the breeze And no one hears a whisper When dust is blown into the dark and empty sea

I took the road less taken But nothing seemed to change In silence I can hear it A little gasp of pain I wanted to hold on to But nothing can remain Nothing can be saved Rolling in my grave I hear

Step by step I travelled On the road that lies behind You can take the exit You reach the frozen city every time Every time Every time Every time

Fabulous vocal! I hear some ecclesiastical matter-of-fact melancholic reflection seasoning the lyrics. Your guitar is on a great trajectory, sounds great!

Awesome. Great modern feel. The lyrics are solid. And you will grow into singing and playing guitar. It is already very good. It will be amazing. Trust a music teacher.

@beej

this song is huge. a full band version would be epic. But it's already beautifully powerful in it's current form, so perhaps needs nothing more. /wipestearsaway

Goodness me... "one day the last of will fall asleep" hits hard... This is really rather wonderful.

Very well done- wrestling with the big questions! These types of songs are not easy to pull off and you did a great job. Engaging and melodic singing too!

Nice lyrical specifics in this write. I really like the rising in the melody and your vocals are really strong. Keep doing it, and the guitar playing with improve. Nice job.

This song feels very Ecclesiastes to me. Was fun hearing you record it. Congrats on your first try at recording live guitar too.
