Liner Notes

This was a fun collaboration about "moving on" that I did with @motorcitymusicman who supplied the really cool lyrics. #fun #collab #guitarpianovocal #movingon

Lyrics

Exodus

The school that I went to each morning The streets where I ran and I played I look for a reason to stay here One more day

There’s rust on the side of the diner The grass in the park’s turning brown It feels like there’s something missing In this place

And I don’t know what happened Everything seems small There’s nothing left to keep me Here at all

I’ll miss all the people who love me But they’ll understand that I’ve grown Now I’ve got to prove I can make it On my own

And I don’t know what happened Everything seems small There’s nothing left to keep me Here at all

I know there’s something better What life’s supposed to be It’s all I’ve ever wanted I’m free

How could I live without this song all my life? I love the overall feel. And the chorus is an earworm. It stays in my head. Great tune! I wish you would allow downloads.

This perfectly captures wanderlust, a common theme in German literature. When everything is just too much, and you come back to the old places and don't recognise anything anymore

Fantastic collaboration and production quality! Thoughtful lyrics, beautiful vocals and instrumental arrangement.

I can totally relate to this, well done! It really captures that wanderlust + regret from outgrowing a place you loved. The performance sounds really good too. One suggestion (which, as always, you're welcome to ignore) would be to look at repeating the last line of the verses ("one more day, one more day", "on my own, on my own"). There's lots of space there and those last lines, when repeated would feel like your inner monologue is struggling but also encouraging the change.

Great job!

There is some kind of beauty in melancholic and wistful music, you have captured that here, congratulations!

Beautiful vocals, nice sad song. Out into the great wide open...

such a true portrait of anybody's hometown wherever it may be..and the realization when there is nothing left to keep you there...that you are free to leave. the vocals are like a slow walk up the side of a mountain, with every step well-measured.
