Stop the World, We've Made a Big Mistake
Liner Notes
I've fallen into that classic FAWM trap of working on multiple songs at once but not actually getting any finished, so I powered through and battered this one into a good enough shape to post.
I really wanted a Hendrix solo in the middle but Hendrix I ain't, so I just made some noisy nonsense instead.
Lyrics
i tried to doomscroll but there's so much doom to get through the modern world appears to be designed to upset you a lack of consequence for the criminal jet set held to account based on the colour of their rosette
do you remember those halcyon days before media thought for you or told you what to say no, nor do I cos that has always been their way it just seems so much worse as they're more blatant today
so stop the world we've made a big mistake maybe its best if another flood comes and washes us all away and what comes next might surpass the job that we did of leaving a better world for our kids
i tried to argue but there's no-one real to talk to facsimiles of the neo-fascist worldview just numbers and a name and never a profile pic maybe they're so angry cos they don't really exist
do you remember those halcyon days when you could trust everything people online would say no, nor do I cos this has always been the way its so much worse cos there's more bad actors today
so stop the world we've made a big mistake maybe its best if an asteroid comes and wipes us away and what comes next might surpass the job that we did of leaving a better world for our kids

Oh I've felt exactly this way many times lately. It's a simply thing, but that old timey guitar chord on the verses is highly effective. That solo is a damn sight better than any I've ever done, be proud!
Love the modulation on guitar, really sets the tone here, and works well with the vocals and subject matter. This is great! Makes me want to pick up a guitar. 🤘
Really cool! Great lyrics. The guitar solo was absolutely rad
James Bond grabs the final rung, pulls himself up onto the scaffold. There he is, Elen Dusk, smoking a joint and grinning at him. "Too late, Mr. Bond. Not even you can stop my 10,000th satellite now. With this, my global social media imperium is complete." "You know," says Bond, "I never liked moose." He shoots. Dusk starts to laugh, but then the hydrogen tank behind him erupts in a gigantic ball of fire. Morph into a hallucinary caleidoscope of images. The music roars up: "Stop the world / we've made a big mistake".
Love this, so well put together. Like Orange Juice playing the Lead Mill. It sounds like a band working well together, actually.
this fills up the space well with well chosen guitar effects, and the bass does a good job in keeping rhythm along with those simple but effective drums. i get the sentiment of wanting to leave the world better than what we found it. it can be hard to have patience sometimes, when arguments and negative press are rewarded. we are in it, all part of the cog, it keeps churning along for the ruling class. i do find it interesting, how the rich ceos of social media, dont allow their kids to use social media. its as if they know something, that we dont
very cool surf rock vibes!
