Liner Notes

This is literally a #folk song about the weather and how fed up I am that it barely seems to have stopped raining since 2025. On 8 string baritone #ukulele, with added organ and harmonica. Maybe it's about something else too? I'll leave that to you. #fuc

Lyrics

Staying warm to survive the winter nights Looking out for neighbours as they fought away the ice We left the shortest day behind Took a whisky for the sake of Auld Lang Syne

A line of torches parading down the hill Singing in the streets as we forgot the winter chill Fireworks explode against the stars Passing time will heal our many scars

We were making resolutions as the calendar turned Preparing for the better days to come But January's over and it keeps on raining And I wonder when we'll ever see the sun?

Splashes from the puddles as the cars are rushing by Looking for a hint of blue to decorate the sky A lake where we once had a village green Broken branches racing down the stream

We were making resolutions as the calendar turned Preparing for the better days to come But January's over and it keeps on raining And I wonder when we'll ever see the sun?

So I'm looking for a reason not to stay in bed Surely by now there's no more water overhead Save us from this neverending storm Rainbows when we step out of the door

We were making resolutions as the calendar turned Preparing for the better days to come But January's over and it keeps on raining And I wonder when we'll ever see the sun?

January's over and it keeps on raining...

I'll trade you your rain for our cold and snow in New England . . . You do a nice job with placing us in time via images "We left the shortest day behind/ Took a whisky for the sake of Auld Lang Syne." and I love that unexpected Gm on the last line of the chorus.

Very topical. About our so far depressing 2026, yet a fairly upbeat melody. Nice.

Nice tight production. A real feelgood.

weather is always a great topic to compare other life issues - so yeah this could be about anything as well as the obvious. O course we are the exact opposite - accept for the first time for who knows how long it is raining her today. Whatever, its a nicely put togther song and a very good listen, the organ really adds a lot.

This a delightful song, even if it's about those dark gloomy winter days. A good way to cheer us all up.

Here I would require to be "January's over and it keeps on snowing; don't know when we'll ever feel the sun ". It's here but too cold.

Lovely song and I love the sound of your 8 string. Very clever word play as Always.
