If aliens came to visit, It would not be LIKELY that we’d take a vote — No orderly queue in the town hall square, No motion somebody wrote.
There’d be a press conference by morning, With twelve conflicting plans, A general polishing medals, And billionaires shaking hands.
The scientists clear their throats — “Perhaps we might converse?” Someone’s trending “#FakeUFO” And making matters worse.
Who will speak for Planet Earth? Who rehearsed this scene? Was there supposed to be a protocol In case of little men green?
We’d hold another referendum, We’d schedule time to tweet, We’d fact-check all the facts we checked Then still admit defeat.
Oh, the ships would turn so quietly, Their patience wearing thin — “They mastered faster-than-light travel… But can’t get a word in.”
Oh, if aliens came to visit, We would not be calm or stoic — We’d argue about the seating chart… And call it historic.

This is brilliant! And sadly, spot on! You covered the likely encounter so dang well! I love this so much “They mastered faster-than-light travel…But can’t get a word in.” Exactly! Your playing and vocals emphasize the fun of this song while this sad tale unfolds. And I especially love that kazoo! Great work here!
Thank you John. I was away for three weeks without any internet, it was so nice. When I returned home, nothing had changed in my opinion.

I love how the left/right swing in the instrumental gives your song a special "alien" vibe. Your lyrics are epic indeed! the notion that aliens would be disgusted by our long-winded processes and leave is so cool. Fun vocal performance as well. NICE!

The storytelling here, just epic! The idea that the aliens would arrive and be drowned out by our bickering 😆👽🛸
When I started songwriting, the first prompt was A daily dilemma. The second prompt was to look at the daily dilemma from an alien's perspective. I still think of that when I start to write a story song. ANd I like the alien perspective mush more as I continue.
