Fun fact: New World porcupines and Old World porcupines are both rodents, but they come from pretty much opposite sides of the rodent family tree. Yes, giant spiky rats has happened twice, independently.
Mode nerdery: Harmonic Minor scale.
Lyrics
Can’t scratch your back, But I can scratch your nose My porcupine, my porcupine When I’m with you, I’m always on my toes My prickly porcupine.
Can’t get behind you, I must stay in front My porcupine, my porcupine Ain’t got your back Because your back ain’t blunt My prickly porcupine.
CHORUS: When you stroll past The mighty cats take pause. They don’t try their luck Because your luck has claws. You’re the exception To the Jungle Laws My porcupine.
You’re not like this ‘Cos you were hurt before, My porcupine, my porcupine Who’d risk attacking When a touch means war? My prickly porcupine
Calm and relaxed When monsters snarl and growl, My porcupine, my porcupine Smile on your face The other end can scowl My prickly porcupine. CHORUS
How are you cousin To the guinea-pig? My porcupine, my porcupine You’re much too metal And you’re much too big, My prickly porcupine.
Brother Agouti, He don’t need no spines, My porcupine, my porcupine Aunt Capybara She can get by fine My prickly porcupine. CHORUS X2

Thanks, David. The chorus describes some wily cats there. And I love the refrain, you never explain how come it's yours.
I love harmonic minor. It always scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Your choice for the topline on this is sublime. And c'mon, there are gonna be very few people around here who could resist geeking out to a song about parallel evolution...
Harmonic minor scale, always that sound, so regular and yet so exotic. Nice way to describe a porcupine, the most phlegmatic of the gothic spiky creatures! I love how the alternate bass makes you fell the pace of the animal.
This lyrics are quite winsome and, dare I say, charming. The mode echoes the sentiment of the lyrics quite well. One interesting detail is the "my" in "my porcupine," which indicates this person is not simply encountering a porcupine, but is very much stuck with it, no pun intended.
