Holly Bears

As a small stupid child, I found the Christmas carols "The Holly and the Ivy" and "Hark the Herald Angels" somewhat alarming due to what I thought were they were about. In his own youth, my father was similarly confused by "Gladly the Cross I'd Bear."
Mode nerds: Dorian #4, AKA "Ukrainian Dorian."
Lyrics
Of all the trees that are in the wood, The Holly Bears Stand green and spiky and foul of mood The Holly Bears They’ll slowly creep up on you, You’ll never catch them shambling Until you look round and you are trapped By Holly Bears.
Red are their berries and black their hearts The Holly Bears Their thorny limbs move in fits and starts The Holly Bears Poor Gladly the Cross-Eyed Bear Sits squinting through binoculars. The trail to her toasty lair is blocked By Holly Bears.
Across the moon flits a somber shadow Winging. Hark and beware of the Herod Angels Sinning. They’re robed in the flesh of those Who listened to their blandishments. The angels are dangerous to all But Holly Bears.
A trail of blood trickles from their roots, The Holly Bears The mulch conceals several pairs of boots The Holly Bears Poor Gladly the Cross-Eyed Bear Is fierce from desperation now. She roars as she runs, ‘til she is stopped By Holly Bears.

This is a terrific mix of creepy and hilarious. And I applaude your ability to sing in yet another of those scales. It sounds great. Loosely related story: One day when I was a small child, the nursery teacher announced a new child: The Bear! I was quite disappointed when a tiny, pale child with thin blond hair showed up, who was called Tabea. (It does sound similar in German. If you are four years old, have never heard the name, and have a vivid imagination.)
I love the idea behind this - i like the mode - It does give an unsettling feel whilst at the same time an air of jollity - (perhaps its the excellent guitar playing that does that). This was most enjoyable to listen to. 😄
Oh, yes the Holly Bears! These are distant relatives I've never heard anything good about! They're not nice!! But there are also very nice bears, like me! 😊 It's wonderful how you captured this eerie atmosphere with guitar and vocals!
Furry greetings! Bear
Thanks - I'm delighted to get good feedback from an actual bear!
You are very welcome! :-)
I absolutely love the harmonic and melodic choices here. Excellent work!
