Day 9 - Early May Bank Holiday

More unpopular drone pop for you, mes petites. This, lyrically, is about something that really bothers me, as a 'left wing conspiracy lurker' - why is the Early May Bank Holiday not always set on May 1st -International Workers' Day? In case no-one got it from previous songs (specifically 'Valentine's Day Massacre') part of the joke is I am the most left wing person I know, I Just don't think it helps to complain. Well, this is me complaining :) I'm howling at this while everyone else is shrugging, is all I'm saying!

Lyrics

International Workers Congress, In 1889, in Paris Established the Second International For Labours, Socialists, and the Marxists.

While here in United Kingdom We only got it in 1978. Known as "Early May Bank Holiday" Always held on the first Monday .

Some may see it as a somewhat sneaky Tory attempt to Depower workers By keeping it vague, and somewhat confusing For left-wing conspiracy lurkers.

A bone of contention due to Socialist connotations Hard working individuals Abandoning their stations For fun in the sun; Celebrate your workforce. Everyone deserves least One nice day a year of course

See, you can change the date Or you can just change the name It still always means the same And it makes you part of the problem

International Worker’s Day - don't you forget it International Worker’s Day – time to celebrate it International Workers 'Day - they want to take it away from you, International Worker’s Day – or maybe do something worse To you.

You've uncovered a secret Tory plot!

Indeed, but not really that secret sadly. J$

I'm whistling this while I work.

Perfect song. Love the chorus of comrades at the end.

Cheers - that was my favourite part as well! Actually that gives me a collab idea. Ill email you shortly if you fancy it? Its February must be time for the annual Fuzzy / j$ collab (or I can write you something entirely new) j$

Even the nazi collaborationist Vichy France let workers day on may the 1st. They rebranded it "la fête du travail" (labor day) — wich is strange for a day off. And turn it into a celebration of docile work. I love your smirky tone on that one too. I sounds like: "you're trying your best to gaslight us but I see what you're doing."

Smirky - who, me? :) j$
