Remember When
by @innerspear
Liner Notes
This song is about Alzheimer's and will be the closing track on my album which I'm finishing up right now, and will release in full in April. Features cello mixed with some guitar at the end and this section will actually be re-used as the opening to the album.
Lyrics
VERSE Remember when someday was one day? Our untold tale seemed so tall Now it's just a fading memory Of a time we had it all
The doctors say we're near end now Every day's a waiting game But I'm sorry This isn't good enough for me When all I want is yesterday
CHORUS Where you still know who I am Your eyes light up when you see me And all our hopes and dreams and plans Are still tomorrow
VERSE From east to west It sure seemed easy with you by my side The best days of our lives All slipping by
I stop to take it in The moment's gone again And now all I want is yesterday
CHORUS Where you still know who I am Your eyes light up when you see me And all our hopes and dreams and plans Are still tomorrow
BRIDGE Don't save the best for last The golden years don't stick around Oh no don't leave me now Please wait for me Where you're going
CHORUS You'll still know who I am Your eyes light up when you see me And all our hopes and dreams and plans Are still tomorrow
OUTRO Still tomorrow

I lost my father in law to alzheimers last year. And before that, my husband's grandmother. It is a terrible disease. I love your voice, it is so perfect in this song. Beautiful chords and piano. So bittersweet. Enjoyed listening, thank you.
I'm so sorry for your loss, thank you for your kind words.
This feels like a closing track to an album - contemplative and emotive. the phrasing of your vocal is perfect and raw and mimics the topic.
I love the chord changes just before the chorus, made me listen a bit harder and helped that falcetto chorus land even more. Great writing!
Thank you I appreciate you noticing those A min chords haha I wasn't expecting that!
An evocative opening line for a lovely song about a topic so many can relate to. The melody is sweet as the lyrics consider the flow of this disease that causes so much pain and loss. Really beautiful composition. "This isn't good enough for me" hits hard, and the high notes on the chorus are bittersweet.
