Liner Notes

Made in the whole-tone scale (E-Gb-Ab-Bb-C-D), trying to make it sound like nothing out of the ordinary... so I'll tag it accordingly: #modal-challenge #exotic-scale

Ended up sounding very ... Beatle-esque? Never tried to!I don't know how, and I don't know why. Just nylon stringed guitar, fretless bass, a proper electric guitar, and the 'drums' are just tip-tapping on the top of the acoustic guitar

If anyone wants to add to it (or play it better than myself!) , using only the wholetone scale, I'm all up for it! I tried and it has been... challenging, to say the least: #needscollab . Either vocals (they can be simple! Even spoken word #needsvocals ), or guitar? or drums? sax? claps? Anything you want!

Now, my ability to sync with metronomes has been tested to the extreme and failed about 20% of the time 😬 Hope you like it!

Welp, the whole point of the song is to be in the whole-tone scale, and that is out of it!

It certainly appeals to the average listening experience!

I can hear the same Beatles influence that you mentioned, specifically in the section starting at about the one minute mark, which echoes the key riff in "I Feel Fine." This works really well as an instrumental track, really an accomplished tune!

Ths is a beauty - a mash up of the unexpected and the comforting. I have no sense really of the parameters of this musical restriction/challenge, but they have made a really interesting bit of music... but like you say, it doesn't sound like it is being willfully odd, just kind of... oddfully weird. I guess a great vocal melody might be found, but that feels optional. Love the bass by the way, the tone and the playing, it sounds so... swinging.

Once you said Beatles I couldn't unhear that. It sounds like very early Fab Four stuff. I'll share the thought I had whilst listening. I saw an interview with George, Paul, and Ringo and they were talking about the early days when they used to sleep together, 2 in each bed. This song could be about that. "Right now there's 2 to a bed, but one day I'll get the whole thing."
