12: Tokyo Skytree

by @frozenlonesome

Liner Notes

Yesterday we visited Tokyo Skytree and the Sumida Aquarium. It was amazing!

The track is created in the generative iOS app called NodeBeat HD. It is an updated version of an app I used when I first started in iOS music making in 2012. NodeBeat has generators (+ symbol) and nodes. The generators and node can move on their own or be locked in place. In addition you have a playable multitouch key bed that follows the selected scale. Sound recorded directly from screen recording, no additional fx or post recording processing.

The challenge with iOS apps is that if the developers don’t continually update them then sometimes they disappear from the App Store and until recently, I thought this app had died, but thankfully not. The scale I used is NodeBeat classic which has always sounded Japanese to me. Technically it might not be a traditional Japanese musical scale. https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/nodebeat-playful-music/id1548397820

https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3064.html The Tokyo Skytree (東京スカイツリー) is a television broadcasting tower and landmark of Tokyo. It is the centerpiece of the Tokyo Skytree Town in the Sumida City Ward, not far away from Asakusa. With a height of 634 meters (634 can be read as "Musashi", a historic name of the Tokyo Region), it is the tallest structure in Japan and was the second tallest in the world at the time of its completion. A large shopping complex with an aquarium is located at its base.

This is so pleasant... floaty and hypnotic with nice bouncy, bubbly energy. Would be excellent study/focus music. Neat video! I knew Mt. Fuji was impressive but to see it towering over the city like that is really cool.

Thanks. I also didn’t understand how large Mt. Fuji is 3,776 m/12,388 ft. But then I’m from the Canadian prairie and my city is only 288 m / 784 ft above sea level so all mountains seem high. I think the haze and the sun setting made it seem bigger.

Glad you enjoyed the music and video. Appreciate you 5aling the time to listen and comment!

The jellyfish synth is so good!!!! I love the layering as you add more. The melody is so serene, lovely. I really enjoyed all the pictures! Wonderful work!

Thanks so much. I never made the connection of NodeBeat being like a jellyfish, but totally get it. It definitely has a similar motion. I hope to catch up with listening soon.
