The Tower

#postcardchallenge time! I got this one from @quadrivium and it got dark...(I know..big surprise 😆)
The chord progression was a little weird, and sometimes fought the melody, but w/ the subject matter, that seemed ok...
Lyrics
"The Tower' Jonny said he had to see, just because he did not know What might have laid beyond the border wall
I don't know from where you come But, I come from here And, I know a thing or two about losing what you hold dear
Living in fear, is a thing we know well Ever since they opened the gates of hell The gates of hell
We climbed The Tower, to see how far we could see But the wasteland stretched for miles, showed us all, we could ever be
I don't know from where you come But, I come from here And, I know a thing or two about losing what you hold dear
Living in fear, is a thing we know well Since they opened up the gates of hell The gates of hell
And now I float, Weightless like a bird I can hear Jonny yelling "What cha doing there girl?!? What cha doing girl?
Well, no more fear...and no more pain. I'm never going back there again Never again.
We climbed The Tower, to see how far we could see But the wasteland stretched for miles, showing us, all we could ever be

Feeling level is pretty poignant here. It's a song for the next generation. A lament
Thank you for the “double tap” listen 🎶 Appreciate your time!
Oh yes. Dark, bleak, and absolutely delicious. And at the back, I can feel the Area X/Southern Reach vibes lurking...
Thank you - and (I always learn stuff during FAWM...) the freshly Googled, Area X/Southern Reach, sounds like something I might enjoy. Appreciate the mention of it.
I love the sad darkness of the melody. It could be just the times we are in, but I can't help think this is very topical and really speaks to the immigrant's experience. Very nice!
Thanks for listening - this one "took a turn" during the writing, and I do enjoy when that happens.

This is a GREAT lyric. Beautiful work on this one - happy FAWM!
Thank you for the spin! This one took me places.
Really pretty postcard! Great chord progression and I really like your beautifully haunting melody with it. Wonderfully emotive vocals and great phrasing. Nice open story telling - not giving away all the details and keeping things open, but the emotions of the journey or situation you sing of come through loud and clear.
Thank you - I had several parallel thoughts while writing, so "keeping things open" allowed them - in my own mind, at least - to coexist.
Love the guitar on this. Sounds great, and I love that progression. Really supports the lyrics well. 🙂 Really liking the lyrics too.
Thank you for the listen and kind words!
I like the symbolism you’re using here. You got a lot out of that postcard! I think the harmony works well.
Thank you for listening!
This postcard s very inspirational and I must admit that I might also come with a haunting story. Well done
This was a bit haunting and sideways, in a very cool way. really liked this tune! I enjoyed seeing the inspirational postcard as well!
Thanks for listening - I feel like it gets that sideways bit from me (probably) wandering in and out of key, with some of those chords..
I like a good piece of candy-coated doomsaying
