Liner Notes

@kristian: I am SO out of practice.. but this got me back into orchestral stuff again and it was a blast.. lost about 6 hours wondering why my levels where all over the place: turns out my 4 year-old recorded panning and volume hahaha :) Here is the link to Leslie's original song: https://lesliehudson.bandcamp.com/track/harbinger

@leslie : this was originally written for owls as they appear in folklore and folk traditions. Often blamed and scapegoated, associated with death and bad omens. But I love owls. They bring me joy.

Lyrics

You have been feared for the softness of your approach like death on silent wings unannounced

Because we fear that coming spectre of the unknown we find your lethal ease unnerving

Harbinger of change and of transition Our mortal messenger Swallowing whole Eyes that stare into the soul

You have been blamed for coincidence and chaos coincidence and chaos And our own futility understood

We try to blame this on imagined cuts and bruises on imagined cuts and bruises that might exonerate us for good

Harbinger of change and of transition Our mortal messenger Swallowing whole Eyes that stare into the soul

Eastern, western, great and small Luck will turn and night will fall and none of it depends on you If we only knew what you do

If we only knew what you do Harbinger with eyes that stare into the soul Harbinger

@2lofi

Again, Wow.... So I would love to get you on the chorus for a track and actually the bridge too, the song was my 4th sub, delicate, and I performed the chorus well enough. Anyway, another great song mad props, and lemme know if you are down for doin that chorus, and either way TY 😀

Beautiful writing. That opening line is SO arresting, it demands attention and the song is just such a treat to sit back and let it flow over you. Such a lush arrangement (the cymbals are perfection!), and what an absolutely beautiful vocal performance. Massively impressed by this guys.

Owls DO bring joy! You're just not going to hear much else like this on FAWM are you? @kristian is quite the virtuoso when he gets behind a keyboard and a mixing desk, it doesn't matter what genre. Leslie's vocal and lyric is absolutely captivating. Love the little backing vocals that come in on some lines. Such a great dynamic shift towards the end too

This was so lush and gorgeous to listen to!

@ddd

There is real depth to this. The lyrics, vocal performance and music arrangement create such a distinct atmosphere . Some of the best stuff I’ve heard this fawm.

I also love owls, and I love this track! Just beautifully put together. What a fabulous collab!

The mystical lyrics are compelling for me, it’s the kind of thing a listener can bring their own meaning to. The orchestration is gorgeous. I enjoyed this one!

Beautiful! Such a cinematic arrangement and gorgeous vocals!

Oooo, so floaty! Love the strings shot through with the synth sparkles. This sounds cinematic to me.

What a great collab. You re bothin fine form here.

Very aethereal! Soaring instruments that back off nicely for the verses. Harmonies are great when they happen! Not really sure of the lyrics' meanings, but they are very mystical when used with this musc.
