Liner Notes

I genuinely don't think I've ever posted this many songs so early in the month before. I don't know what's happened! It definitely won't last.

This is another one from the Pocket Full of Songs book. The prompt was "Write a song about holding hands."

Wow, I'm blown away, you'd swear this song came out years ago. I love the lo-fi feel on the first part. I love the sound of the synths, they're weirdly cool, in a very good way!

Is this with EZ Drummer and the e-kit? Sounds pretty solid in that way. Our cover band is using an e-kit and we're working on finding good samples. The stock ones are very unconvincing.

Ooh! Love when the sounds goes from telephony to clear and in your face. What a cool arrival. And the pump and stop. I could hear that going throughout the heavier stuff. Then again, I'm into Zedd at the moment and that's just his MO. Reminds me a bit of Muse in that heavy section as well. This one has all the makings of a legit commercial full song, if you felt included to build it out.

The simplicity of this works really well. Such a sweet sentiment and an ideal pace for the message too.

I clicked the link because the title is so sweet. The song doesn't disappoint :-)

I like all the grit and wobbly goodness of this. It's as if you've just discovered it under a pile of discarded newspapers and put it up for a spin.

Oh! And then the second half comes in with the modern re-make for the box set. Wonderful :-D

Is the "Pocket Full of Songs" an actual published book in the vein of Jeff Tweedy's "How to Write One Song"?

EDIT: I think I found the book in question, if it's the one written by Nathan Timothy. It just took a little longer to search.

Yeah, that's the book. Its basically a blank notebook with a song prompt on every other page, so you can write the lyrics directly into it.
