Another cold Wisconsin winter is the inspiration for this song. About this time, every year, it is not unusual to start hearing this kind of talk by the weary, downhearted folk around here. Of course we never leave... because, eventually it does warm again and we soon forget about this and every other brutal winter.

Lyrics

If It Ever Gets Warm Again

I walked out the door, my toes, they all froze So dang cold outside, ‘cicles hanging from my nose... Bone crushing ice, to me it ain’t that nice... Every year’s the same, I suppose.

CHORUS: If it ever gets warm again... Gonna really whoop it up, my friends! If it ever gets hot to the touch... Won’t be too soon, heck, I’ve had enough.

Complain ‘bout it yearly, you know I love you dearly... But been dreaming of palm trees, more and more. Gotta flee this here town, prior to my breakdown We’re teetering on a new cold war.

CHORUS: If it ever gets warm again... Gonna really whoop it up, my friends! If it ever gets hot to the touch... Won’t be too soon, heck, I’ve had enough.

I liked the happy sound of those intro notes. I think you chose a perfect L1 for your Ch, given the theme of the song! I also really liked, "But been dreaming of palm trees, more and more." I understand! I found your page b/c of your nice comments on "I Know A Little Bit." Love the way that reciprocation works. 😀

Some swell bluegrass playing and singing! Love the fiddle. Fun lyrics, too. We moved to Florida 22 years ago after one too many Ohio winters. It got Florida cold here last week (32 degrees) but nothing like what you folks up north deal with.

I'm in Massachusetts where we just got another few inches in a windy, swirly storm that is accompanied by some bitter cold (although I suppose everything is relative). I was just outside shoveling the driveway and came inside to take a break and warm up before my ears froze off. I could feel the wind whipping right through my hat and every time I emptied the shovel half of it blew back in my face. I guess the bright side is that it was light. I was out there thinking I might have to write a song called "&#% This Snow", but then I saw your song and your treatment of similar material is both less obsene and musically sweeter than what I had in mind, so thanks for talking me off the ledge with this very nice song. I pictured you and some family members huddled around a fire performing it. Great work! Stay warm!
