Monday Night Antics

Liner Notes
Well you know - sometimes you gotta do the wrong thing...
Lyrics
Another working day You have to make it pay But you’re lonely You’re lone-e-ley
And Monday makes you think I shouldn’t have a drink But you’re lonely You're a lonely boy
Monday night antics Up to those old tricks Monday night antics Nothing wrong with that
Tuesday will be hard Suffering and scars But you push through You push on through
Wednesday comes along You’re nearly half way done Yes you’re coping You’re doing fine
Thursday passes by A quiet Friday night Then it's the weekend You hang with some old friends Spend too much money Head back to home
Another Sunday night You’ve got the blues alright And you’re lonely You’re so lone-e-ley
But Monday comes along And habit can’t be wrong He’ll go large He’ll go overboard

Vocal effect on Sunday lines is simply EQ - you viciously cut low and high end frequencies leaving only mids - some EQ plug-ins will have a preset called ‘telephone’ or something similar . The rest is just a decent signal chain melodyne for fine tuning - a few EQ tweaks to reduce harshness, compression to add character and volume, reverb with a lot of pre delay (that’s the magic trick), subtle echo and perhaps a little tape to add final colour! Don’t get too lost in the rabbit hole - you still have to be able to sing a bit!!
Great storytelling in the lyric; you feel for the 'you' in this lyric for sure. Great music; the melodic line and the jangle of the guitar propel this song forward.
Love this, simple but very effective with melody and prod! great arrangement and great way to celebrate the end of dry january
Loved the fun change-up on "Another Sunday night." 😀 The production feels just right.
Nice singing! I like the production. The adding of layers and elements is great :)
Charming! I’m thoroughly in by “But you’re lonely/You're a lonely boy.” This march through the week feels relentless and repetitive as time can in a “typical” week. By this, I don’t mean the song is repetitive in any negative sense of the word. I like the shift in tone on the bridge and the sound filter that colors Sunday. Really cool sounds — this is satisfying.
This is great, Rich! It's got a proper singalong chorus, a bit of a Cure vibe. I love the idea that this character is deciding to go large on the Monday. I mean, bold move I'd say 😆 , but it totally works in the context of the story you're telling - it's so much sadder that they can't stop themselves. Really enjoyed the listen!
I love everything about this. The production is amazing (how'd you get the different vocal effects? I have so much to learn!) and great storytelling. Your vocals are great and I want to sing along!
