The Week Behind

Liner Notes
This is the result of working over 43 years in the same job. I'm now retired 7 months and don't miss the early mornings, long drives and unruly customers ( I do miss some coworkers - you know who you are). I've tried to record my songs as I did in years past with individual tracks for instruments and vocals but now it seems that one takes work best. For those of you who are still populating the workforce, "This song is dedicated to YOU!" #acoustic #laborintensive #acousticonetake #retired
Lyrics
The Week Behind F.A.W.M. 2026 ©schnowd
The week behind kept draggin on from one day to the next With the daylight startin each day as we work for those paychecks It’s off to work another shift to bring home two weeks pay But Friday’s comin to end the week, I can’t wait for Saturday
I begin each Monday morning just exactly where I was When I left here Friday afternoon I was ready for a pause Then Tuesdays shows up right on time and adds to my weekly woe I know that I’ll get through it but it’s like Monday 2.0
Hump days here and I tell myself the weekend is in sight But Friday is still two days off, the future’s looking bright Thursday rolls around and now fatigue is setting in I think that I can make it but my strength is wearing thin
I made it on to Friday but is seems like Deja vu I seem to remember being here, could this really be true The week behind keeps dragging on from one day to the next With the daylight startin each day as we work for those paychecks
Wait, hold on a minute. Is it really Saturday? Has the workweek finally relented and given me a day to play? I could sleep in, I should sleep in cuz I’ve labored to earn my keep But now that Saturday’s finally here, I’m so excited, I can’t sleep
Sunday has been designated as a day of rest To relax and give thanks to God for strength to do our best We must learn to step back once a week and say amen Cause tomorrow’s Monday morning and it starts all over again

The change of tempo really worked as a useful effect selling the lyric.
Hey its great to hear you again. I like how you slow down in the middle, and speed up again. the changes in tempo really work great with the days of the week. Very clever and catchy! Well Done Scott
This song is so fun and clever. Really does capture the repeating frustration of working on Monday to Friday job. I always felt frustration that I want to sleep in on Saturday but it's my one day off and I should be able to spend it doing fun things instead of just sleeping and recovering from my job.
Well, isn't this just a delightful song!!! I am smiling from ear to ear and tapping my toes as you worked us through 7 days in the life of a working man! I've been there...done that...and it is just as you described! I really enjoyed your playing and your vocals! It sounded like you were smiling the whole way through; I know I certainly was! Really clever lyrics that make every verse enjoyable! I liked the twist of not being able to sleep in on Saturday. And then the slow down in the last verse followed by a quick pick up in the last line as we get ready to do it all again! Excellent work on this! Keep writing fun songs we can relate to!
Yes, this hits home. I love Monday 2.0.. oh, and the tempo change as you get tired…. This is so funny! I would love to use this with our local jam. Such a great song, and perfect delivery!
