I Am Stillness

Lyrics
In the stillness after evening prayer The table set My heart stripped bare I breathe unfiltered sunset air In the stillness after evening prayer.
In the stillness after morning dreams My heart holds starlight’s fading gleams I fill my cup from living streams In the stillness after morning dreams
In the afterglow I rest Snuggled into heaven’s nest Washed with the light from the wilderness I take a breath exhale and rest
In the stillness of the afterglow By streams where only I can go At tables where my heart can grow I am stillness I am stillness I am stillness in the afterglow

I'm delighting with every held note, in particular. So natural, the breathing, the resting, the stillness, the prayer. Soothes my soul.
Wow Jon, this is beautiful! Your piano is so gentle and mesmerizing. Your vocals are tender and touching. The melody is lovely. And the words reach right into my heart! What a wonderful song!
I am so glad I found this song! The chord progression (and the way you execute it on piano) is stunning. The lyrics flow so beautifully - starting each verse with "in the stillness" really grounds the song. Just lovely!
Devotional, placid - makes me think of the image of eddies atop deep water. A lovely, prayerful lyric, and a well-suited musical setting. Sung in a voice that’s somehow simultaneously worn and childlike.
Stunning and reverent. I really love the line washed with the light from the wilderness. Glad to see you are back again this year!
There you go! Elegant and elevating! Absolutely gorgeous!
Oh wow, this sounds like one of those songs that's just been there forever. I love the lines about breathing 'unfiltered sunset air' and 'starlight's fading gleams' - super poetry. And then the melody is so beautiful, and so beautifully delivered, with some beautiful piano playing underneath it all. Did I mention this is all rather beautiful?
beautifully done from the first note! Such tenderness in the lyric, the vocal and the piano! excellent J's
such a gentle expression of life-affirming prayer. the piano is subtle and exquisite, the melodies soft, cozy and inviting. and the vocals come straight from a pure heart into the pure air. what a wonderful, relaxing yet stimulating song.
It's hard coming late to the comment party. All my adjectives have already been taken☺️. I can only echo everyone's thoughts about the beauty and prayerfulness of this song. There are deep wells of peace here, Joe and Jon, that bring comfort and grace to our souls. Thank you for sharing this. It is much needed.
