Skirmish: Myths and Legends (@anakin)Liner Notes
I wondered if I could do a skirmish - and I can!
It took me slightly over an hour and the skirmish was well under way when I started, but enjoyed it.
Lyrics
Myth and Legend
All the Kings of England Walking paths to heaven All the stones containing swords To be pulled free All the flaxen haired maidens Hidden in the tower Throwing their hair down To be set free
It's myth and legend from a storied past
All the elves and goblins Living in the forest Their quest still, fighting To be set free
Live inside the oak tree A thousand years of sleeping No-one ever told you You're never free
It's myth and legend from a storied past

I'm impressed you wrote the song and got all those layers laid down in slightly over an hour - it took me that long to write the lyrics and I just recorded the tunes todayI I enjoyed the whole song but the turn of direction in the final verse was my favorite part. Truth.
Congrats on your first skirmish--not only finishing it, but finishing it strong!
yeah Neil Young indeed, good voice! love the instruments. Soulful vox. nice electric piano!
Wow, fuckin A, I don't hear Neil but STRONG WARREN ZEVON vibes! And I mean that as highest praise. Well done!
This is great! Really nails the subject in a vibrant and soulful demo that has a trace of Neil Young!
Thankyou. I'll take any hint of an association to Neil Young.
The production and the mix are both marvelous! Really like that guitar tone and the bass, which reflects what's going on lyrically very well!
That's very kind - thanks for giving it a listen.
Was wondering if this was going to follow on from your previous track, but this is totally its own thing. This is really impressive work, period. The fact that it's a skirmish song is amazing.
And I'm laughing at the fact that this probably gives the impression to our American friends that we all live somewhere here with a castle or two down the road and every house more than 100 years old has its own collection of ghosts, but then I remember there's an iron age hill fort and a 4,000-year-old long barrow both just ten minutes' drive from me...
