Liner Notes

Going away over the weekend and finished this in a hurry. Mandolin and pump organ supporting the vocal/guitar.

Lyrics

There's a crooked path - leading through these woods Nobody seems to walk these days Behind the old mill - or where the mill once stood And straight into the dark pines and away

He got his hands dirty, his soul even worse If you ever heard him speak it was probably a curse

One eye lookin' at you – the other lookin' down You would never really know where it's at Never seen him in church – never seen him in town Can't trust a man like that

He got his hands dirty, his soul even worse If you ever heard him speak it was probably a curse

Old Annie once told me – a few days before she died They used to call him Sinister Sam Once he had a woman - and if Annie didn't lie He drowned her in the dam

He got his hands dirty, his soul even worse If you ever heard him speak it was probably a curse

Sounds like this song has always existed, the lyrics are strong on their own, but the arrangement just knocks it out the park. Love it. The pump organ rocks

This brings everything I love about your songs into one place. Words, vocals, mandolin and pump organ. <3

Yessss love the mandolin and the storytelling of it all

Hearsay, your Honour! He was just a regular software developer. Cursing all the time is part of the trade.

Great storytelling! Can see the forest and the guy right before my eyes.

I really like the gritty, mysterious vibe combined with the old-timey feel. It all adds up to a delightfully dark, almost cheerfully menacing experience that's almost cinematic in its world-building.

“If you ever heard him speak, it was probably a curse.” Great line! 😄 I like the whole creepy vibe of this.

Sinister Sam - he belongs in those cartoons i watched as a kid for sure - maybe Dick Darstardlys cousin. I digress. This is lovely , far from an expert here but it has to my ear the feel of those russian folk songs! and i love them and this! One of my favourites mate!

Love the mandolin. Those are some proper lonesome melody lines. I have to reiterate again, your vocals are just amazing. I am a fan for sure. That chorus is brilliant! Super cool song, yet again!
