Coronation

by @lastkeymusic

Liner Notes

An ethereal, intricate electronic prog-rock track inspired by the music of Deltarune, in particular Deltarune Chapter 4!

Written both for FAWM and in conjunction with Music Weeklies Challenge over on Bluesky and their personal Discord, "Coronation" goes through three time signature changes due to the intended theme of their current Weekly Challenge (write a song with numerous time signatures in it); "Coronation" starts in 8/4 (or 4/4), glides into 7/4, returns to 8/4, and then briefly jumps down to 6/4 before fading out in 8/4. : )

Awesome stuff! Really enjoyed this track even though I'm not familiar with anything from Deltarune (I never got around to finishing Undertale myself to be honest).

im surprised that none of the other commenters seem to be familiar with deltarune? lol i've gotta commend this tune for beautifully walking the line between "deltarune inspired" and "doing its own thing". the odd time usage is completely natural too

this was a fun listen — the “prog” tags brought me here, but i was surprised at how “clean” this is (for lack of a better term)… still fits the bill with odd time signatures, melodic bass, and intricate switch-ups, i just haven’t heard much prog that also crossed with this instrumental palette. i can see why you tagged it #videogamemusic, too… very listenable and surprisingly not too demanding despite the complexity.

nice job and welcome to FAWM!

Love a mix of time sigs - it's normally my go-to thing but I've for some reason only played in 4/4 this FAWM so far (please don't take my prog card). This is really fun, the rhythms keep propelling everything forward and it's always engaging.

Excellent work! I love the changes in rhythm throughout the piece! I also like the almost retro-sounding reverb in the mix.

Much obliged! I've always wanted to experiment more with time signatures and I'm glad the Music Weeklies Challenge's latest prompt gave me a good excuse to do so

Video game music that shines. Well-produced. I wonder about the percussion being so pronounced, but I don't know much about video games/video game music.

Thank you! And honestly the percussion being so upfront is definitely more a 'me' thing than a VGM thing in general, largely stems from my aptitude / preference for pop & electronic-styled music (and still by-and-large figuring out proper mixing and mastering as I go)!

This is everything you # tag it. Great piece. Thanks for sharing.
