Liner Notes

Let me explain...

So Bach's Crucifixus (🤘) has this amazing lament bass (descending chromatic bass from tonic to dominant), and I wanted to practice writing on that, hoping some of the magic would stick. I had the brilliant idea of downloading a harpsichord virtual instrument for extra baroque points and doing some very, very serious counterpoint. Needless to say, about two seconds in, I was already shave-and-a-haircutting it and laughing my ass off. Harpsichord is hilarious.

There are some parts that don't really work harmonically, but I'm trying to learn not to obsess too much over dumb shit. I already spent way too much time on this. The lead-guitar line at 0:32 came out pretty cool, I think.

One of my most hated instruments is the harpsichord. Last time I tried to do something with VSTs, I ended up with death metal yelling the crap out. I enjoy that your approach is more melodic, these lead guitars are just wonderful.

This is awesome, and yes, I can see how harpsichord can cause a fit of laughter. By the way, when the bass came in, I had a big smile. On second listen, I'm still looking for the parts that don't work harmonically? But then I'm so used to dissonance that I often no longer notice it is dissonance... Thanks for sharing the Crucifixus, I always enjoy catching a glimpse of your creative process.

So well written. Absolutely love the lead guitar lines. Amazing tone as well. A really fun listen. The harpsichord is insane 😂

brings back my old listening days of people like Wakeman. Some cool guitar in there as well! I really enjoyed this
