Liner Notes

this is an idea i had on feb 2. i came up with the riff and the vocal melodies and the idea that this would be a song called "stay up all night," but i didn't work out the lyrics or the arrangement. i went with the "blah blah blah" song instead because it seemed to come together more quickly. today i worked it all out (mostly).

i think this could be another XRAY XEROXX song. maybe? it's not exactly a punk song but it has attitude.

i recorded these vocals while my wife was in the other room taking a quick nap, so these aren't really belted out quite the way i would have liked.

i might write a second verse, but i kind of like the idea of it being the same. maybe it makes it more of a singalong? like all the sections could be choruses in theory.

no video again today. i still have so much work to do for the new xray xeroxx e.p. that came out. i have to make copies of the cassette. people have started ordering them. so that's cool!

Sweet prechorus (!), which leads into the descending vocal slide in the first and third lines of the chorus. Delightfully unhinged solo.

Great guitar/vocal co-riffage. The faster tempos really suit your style. Feels like a joyful mosh pit waiting to happen. Really love to see you evolve and push into new areas. The various vocal styles and the unison octaves are lots of fun. Love it, dude!

YESSWSS!!! OMG THAT INTRO RIFF. It's so fuggin good! Love the subtle (but in your face) bgv layers. This song is fully formed.

If Andrew WK isn't gonna party like this anymore, well someone has to! I like the change-up in vocal styles and the so-dumb-it's-good way the staccato chords end the riff.

I totally agree that repeating the first verse works great, adds to the feeling of the song as a party. I still can't get over how great you are at adding those grunts and woos in, they seem so effortless and subtle but they really do so much work for the song. It's frickin epic dude

Oh yeah my type of song - my old band would have played this given a chance - ps that was a while ago. Really good song - still would go down well in a bar near me now!
