Liner Notes
With thanks to @apersonthatexists017 for reminding me that black metal doesn't always need to be fast. This is at 86 bpm, until it isn't... #metal #blackmetal
Lyrics
On whose lips Does the wine spill? The most bittter draught Carries aeons of sorrow In each choked drop
In whose eyes Does the light gleam? Prismatic flux From a thousand Dying suns
In whose heart Does the black blood flow? Quicksilver ichor Carried aloft On stellar winds
In whose mind Does the first thought grow? Enfeebled and cursed By an ocean's tempest Becalmed
By whose hands Are these runes carved? Marks for the outcast For the unhomed For the Lord of Lies

Ok so I really appreciate all the different elements going on here…hopefully I don’t forget any to call out! The bridge section had some really interesting chords. The guitar solo countermelody is so nice, and the tone of the guitar almost has a slight video game edge that really just works! The cutout with chill section followed by absolute frenzy is fire. And dude, how do you get your voice to sound like that?! It’s so epic
These vocals are streptococcal. I hear them on radio and think these men must live under a bridge drinking meths but I believe you do them just for us. It is such a great sound you make and by the end its relentlessness has pushed me back into a corner and I teeter on the edge of a void. Woo i have survived, I will listen to more.
I like the lyrical structure and, of course, how the pensiveness of the first four gives way to the impatient aggression of the last. The slow head bang of the one and three feels good.
Brilliant track, great vox and guitars!
I still think that slow songs hit harder than blast beats on 200 BPM. This song is a brilliant example how heavy it can summon demons. Are vocals harder? When I get better, it sounds like a genre I should try... but mostly because I can't play guitar fast. This rocks 🤘🏻😈🤘🏻
Thanks! Nah, I don't find vocals harder at this tempo... maybe even easier, as they have a bit more space to breathe
Terrifying; and also brilliant! Very nice despite not having a clue what the lyric is on about. I'm guessing its either Vikings or D&D. Anyway, great stuff, sir! J$
Ahhh there's many things i love here, the slow then picking up speed is so satisfying, well done !
Oh man, 86 bpm metal is where I live 😂. Wonderfully heavy, backed up by the vocal delivery. I enjoy the relentless build up. And of course, one great thing about slow tempos is that it's easier to go double-time! Fun imagery too!
There's so much tension in this riff, and it being slow just amps it up. Aaaaaaaah the build!!!!!! (In the middle) So good! I think I love Black Metal with existential questions🖤 Also, like. Your vocals are incredible!
Absolutely shredding song. The slow out front makes 3:22 so REWARDING!! 🤘🤘🤘
of course until it isnt. Big ominous opening. nice synths moving along and then - here we go to the finale! better than a morning coffee foe me
Aha - but there were no synths - it's all guitar!
YESSSSSSS. I like that you kept it a slower tempo...and then were like NAH. That build at the end was fantastic. That soundscape at the end was really unexepected. What was that a recording of?
Great song. I like the parallel way that the lyrics are structured. Also really liked the musical breaks after "On stellar winds" and "Becalmed."
This is sublime. Slowly building. Falling into the abyss and comes screaming out from the unsanctified depths. I love this very much <3
The relentless riff works so well in the slow tempo. In the double or whatever time also. 😀 Wonder whether this was the right song to hear before bedtime...
