yo howdy! I hit a wall. So I wrote about it.

Cross the finish line? Hey hey, I did it again

Lyrics

I did it, I did it, I did it again I had a good start, then I got in my head And lost, I lost it, I lost the thread Whatever that was, the idea is dead I get, I get it, it happens sometimes Not because it's awesome, but just because it rhymes With life and love and a means to an end I did, I did it — I did it again

I did, I did it, I did it again Opened up my notebook, picked up my pen Got my motor runnin and just before it stalled I hit the ground runnin and I slammed into a wall I thought, I thought, I thought it was funny It's hard to believe people do this for money So where do I sign up, where to begin I did, I did it — hey look, I did it again

I tried, I tried, I tried and failed No winds beneath my wings and none in my sail I know, I know, I know you can't force it And so I tried again and failed of course It's hard, it's hard, it's hard to share The road to perfection is paved with despair Just when I thought I was gonna nail it I tried, I tried, I tried and failed

I did it, I did it, I did it again I had a good start, then I got in my head And lost, I lost it, I lost the thread And the needle's in the haystack I know, I know, it happens sometimes It doesn't mean it's awesome just because it rhymes With life and love and a means to an end I did, I did it — I did it again

I did, I did it — I did it again

ha yeah i can relate to the message of the lyrics! cool song, sounds like 1, 4, b3 which I'm personally a fan of being a blues enthusiast! maybe try taking the same motion and applying it to the 4 chord so you get a new section, at least thats what the blues might do!

@graysen this one is all about that flat 3. Yessir! Thanks for checking it out.

Very relatable feeling lol, I enjoy it

“It’s hard to believe people do this for money!” I love it, great line…kinda a cross between bob dylan and tom petty vibes! Good job and a fun song! I think this one’s on the keeper list!

I love the bit about, "not because it's awesome, but just because it rhymes." I like that you related that to life and love. Check that box, move on. Excellent.

Thanks! @philhenry -- I hit so many walls between 7pm on Wednesday and finding my way into this jam late on Thursday morning. Somewhere in there it occurred to me that the way through it was to report on it. Boop!

Dude, this is one of the best #meta FAWM songs I've ever heard, and, over 20 years, I've heard a few. Driving rhythm and catchy repeats mean this might even stand up to being more than just a song about writing songs. Great line after great line. Your prolific pace and quality -- already crossed the finish line?! What a jerk -- both infuriates and inspires me.

[pic]

@philnorman ha! well, ya know, you've inspired and infuriated me a time or three 😃 I have a 3-wk tour starting on Feb 20, so I'm hitting it hard here at the start of FAWM anticipating less opportunity to focus on writer later on.

That's a dessert highway super jam if I ever heard one. Big "running from the law" energy

@abudabard12514 ah man, yeah! a studio version would want one of those "Runnin' Down a Dream" vibe guitar hooks.

Love this -- really well written and performed. That chord progression and driving rhythm work great. Esp. like no wind beneath wings/none in sail, road to perfection paved with despair, and the needle's in the haystack. Damn good (and fun) song!

Thank you! @chrisgray I must've started and stopped a half dozen ideas between last night and this morning. You picked up the lyrics that came out of not giving up on this one. Man, that's awesome!
