Jill Chicken and Billy Pig

Liner Notes
In this week's "Seasons of the Ukulele" we are being asked to write (or respond to) songs that are inspired by talented Tasmanian artist Sia Joo Hiang (Known as Joo). If you are interested in seeing more of her varied work check her website out: https://www.siajoohiang.com/
As a vegetarian living with an omnivore I was particularly attracted to the image that inspired this song. Though, happily, I don't have the problems of the protagonists in the song.
Instrument: Oscar Schmidt 6 String Ukulele (not a Guitalele) #fuc #artchallenge
Lyrics
INTRO: (G) (D) (G) (D) (G)
(G) Jill Chicken fell in love with (C) Billy (G) Pig A love affair I guess was (D) doomed He (G) loved eggs for breakfast (C) every (G) day While she, over her (D) bacon, just (G) drooled
(C) Billy had been a (G) vegetarian From the (C) time he'd had a last dip in the (G) swill But (C) watching Jill tuck in to (G) her bacon roll Gave poor Porky a de(D)sire to (G) kill
Jill (Bm) looked on in horror as he (C) wolfed down his (G) eggs As a (Bm) human would if "Baby" were first (C) course This (Bm) incompatibility could (C) not be over(G)come And it ended in a (D) messy di(G)vorce
Opposites attract, isn't (C) that what they (G) say? But believe me when I say I'm not (D) sure If (G) what you have in common is you're (C) poles a(G)part Your idyll soon may (D) end up in (G) war And that's not what (D) we're looking (C) for! ...(G)

I am lucky that while my "other half of the orange" is an omnivore, she doesn't mind eating vegetarian, most of the time. If she fancies meat or fish I can still cook it for her and she adds it to whatever I have created without either.
So much fun, and made me chuckle throughout, just what I needed after a crummy week at work. Thanks for sharing.
This song is just pure fun gave me a good chuckle well done
Ha ha the bacon eggs bit is priceless. This is very funny Berni yeah i'm not sure either mate. Good stuff.
As a vegan married to a carnivore leaning omnivore trust me when I say that you can make it work. ;-) TBH, I was afraid this was going to go dark for Billy. Very cute and with a moral too.
I can relate! Such fun and so creative too! Enjoyed this!
I love this (also hi fellow vegetarian)! Really fun listen, I love how you have a genuine kind of moral at the end (“if all you have in common is you’re poles apart…”)
Oh, farm animal murder ballad. Very fun! I enjoyed the rousing tune and the moral of the story. I also very much like the sound of your 6 string uke. Cool. I wasn't even aware they made 6 string ukes.
On 6 String Ukes:
They are tuned GCEA as per normal, but what they have different is the C and the A strings are doubled up, but in octaves. That's what gives it that particular sound, Note: Having a bass and a treble string on the A string is fun when picking melodies. It has an effect like a guitar passed through an Octave Pedal.
this is a fun song with serious undertones. i enjoyed the humor but related to the problem.
