Grandmother

Liner Notes
I finally got my Keystation 88 MK3 in the mail. Before plugging it in and powering it on, I felt the need to record one more song with my grandmother’s keyboard. She was such a kind and loving person.
It’s been just over two weeks since my dad and I walked through her house. Memories were intact but she wasn’t there anymore. I saw a photo of my 5-year-old self on the desk in her bedroom… and my dad found her arranger keyboard that she used to play.
I have some childhood memories of playing the keyboard in her previous home, but after time had passed, I had almost forgotten that she had it in the first place.
Obtaining her keys got me into this era of being myself unapologetically, all while using pianos as my primary voice… so I wanted to write a song that felt somewhat longing but soft…
This time around, I played my electric cello and Reface CP along with the keyboard. Next time, I’ll be playing on a full-size 88 key midi controller (and at some point I’ll use it to control my grandma’s keyboard, too).

Beautifully melancholic and well measured. I actually preferred listening without the video, could focus more on the music and for this kind of music somehow I prefer not seeing how it is made but maybe that's just me. The dog is very cute though.
Thank you for the kind words! Reece just got his haircut so I had to show off the pup a bit 😂
Hauntingly beautiful and very special piece and tribute to your grandmother. Amazing to be able to play on her keyboard she used to play 🎵✨️🎶What was the other instrument? Little dog looks so sweet. She loves your playing too.
Thank you so much, Nadia!! I also played my WAV4 electric cello and the Reface CP keyboard for pad sounds inside my modular synth case 😃
Love this, Adam. It’s peaceful and contemplative and the layers of sound you weave throughout tickle the ears in the best way.
Aw thank you Alli!!! That means a lot to me ❤️
Very nice, floating but also engaging. I like the use of negative space between the foreground notes to hear the reflections and ear candy
Thank you Nick!! I appreciate hearing your thoughts 😁
Like your command of reverb (and delay). I also enjoyed the backstory of your early experiences with music. How do we not make sound with all that we've seen? Love your work!
thank you Matt!! I appreciate the kind words so much, truly.
very emotive, but to me, light not heavy. the video really adds (puppy!). when i close my eyes, i picture open fields and sunshine. kudos.
Reece the puppy just got his haircut a couple days ago. He's quite a handsome little dude 😂
This is so, so beautiful. I'm a complete sucker for pianos falling into dense oceans of reverb, and this absolutely hits the spot. The little rhythmic, glitchy greebles going on in the background lift things to the next level—and then the cello arrives. Bliss.
🤘 ❤️ thank you Chris!!
That first note just sets the tone... beautiful, deep, vast, soft. So many layers in a minimal arrangement. This is lovely, Adam!
