I watched the new muppet show special yesterday after work, and for 30 minutes i was back on the floor in front of that giant woodgrain console tv in my pajamas wrapping up my weekend before bedtime and another week in elementary school.

I needed that break. I think a lot of us did. I need more of it. So do a lot of us.

the voices weren't quite the same it's been like fifty years but the music and lights were there and the audience still cheered

I may not know who that kid is trading diva barbs with Piggy but silly staging of the songs lined up with Mummenschanz and Twiggy

in this stressed and broken grown up life today old friends helped lift the weight for half an hour I found some respite like a Sunday night when I was eight corny jokes more clever than they ought to be and genuine emotions flow I'm just glad they brought it back The world still needs the Muppet Show

they're just trying to put on a show frog barely managing the chaos jokes and magic song and dance each week the aimed to bring us

special guest stars playing against type interpreting the classic hits Muppet Labs and Pigs in Space we all had our favorite bits

This special presentation hit the right notes for this moment with so many feeling hopeless it put simple joy in focus

was it to win the new kids over or grab the Xers memories? does it really matter, after all if it brings the same energy?

YES! I have heard this special is great and can't wait to watch it (after FAWM)! We need this more than ever. I wish they would just bring back the Muppet Show every week.

100% this. The Muppets have gotten me through some of my darkest times, and I’m not ashamed to admit I cried more than anticipated watching the new special. Crossing my fingers for a new season!

I'm guessing they steered clear of anything like the 2013 reality-show version. Probably for the best (although that show had its moments).

Yeah, you really captured the feeling of falling in love with the Muppets all over again. Every few years they come back and it really is reliving your childhood

While they're at it, can we get Blu-Rays of the classic series? (They only put out DVDs of the first 3 seasons, and I'm still bitter about that.)

I've heard good things but haven't seen it.. yet? Might have to watch now. At any rate, I think your lyric hits both the larger subject as well as the undercurrent, the deeper feeling, nearly perfectly.

Oh, I relate to this so much, even without seeing the new programme. I had to watch the Muppet Christmas Carol again on Christmas Day, because of course I did, so this is totally on target. We DO need the Muppet Show, now more than ever!
