Toddler Song
Liner Notes
For my granddaughter, who is a delightful toddler. And yes, someone told her not to eat her socks. I can see adding more verses, and more relatives telling her "Don't...." But I'll always keep myself in the final verse.
Lyrics
I’m a toddler and I like to play Play hard all night all day Till my mommy comes to say Don't eat your socks!
And when it’s time for books No matter who is reading You just can’t stop at one Always one more I am needing
And when it’s time for napping I don’t want to rest There’s so much out there happening I’m afraid I’ll miss the best
I’m a toddler and I like to play Play hard all night all day Till my daddy comes to say Don’t draw on the wall!
And when it’s time for dinner Sitting in my special chair I mash cheerios into placemats Put avocado in my hair
And when it’s time for bathing My ducky goes splish splash As soon as I am dry I’ll make a naked dash.
I’m a toddler and I like to play Play hard all night all day Till my didi comes to say Lana I love you !
Comments
My youngest child has only just exited the toddler phase a few years ago, ending a solid 9 years of it in our house between all the kids. So I can definitively say that I feel these lyrics so hard haha! As a parent you sometimes can't believe what comes out of your mouth sometimes gently encouraging them because it's so ridiculous sometimes! Make sure you remember this song when Lana is a little older; she will love this so much!
And yet, going into my 40th year on this planet, this is still incredibly relatable lol
She's gonna cherish this forever and ever
Is it writing on walls or the avocado in your hair? Nice to hear from you.
Fun and innocence permeate this song! Such a whimsical "slice of life" feeling. I like it. Had me smiling!
This is beautiful, silly, and just plain wonderful. My first granddaughter (first grandchild, in fact) is due in exactly three days, and I am looking forward to exactly this. :)
Congratulations! Enjoy her if you live near. We need a plane to see ours. Have you written a lullaby yet?
This is giving me a little PTSD…Post Toddler Stress Disorder…a boy-o-boy, and a girl-o-girl. I miss those days.
